چکیده
Abstract Larger patches generally are inhabited by higher species richness, including birds, as predicted the island biogeography theory. The objective of this research was to reveal response bird richness in different patch sizes peri-urban habitat. study site area five (2 large near human activities, remote with a small lake, patch, corridor patch) disturbed secondary shrub-forest Riau University, Sumatra. Birds were observed using standard point-counts early morning and late afternoon (8 points/patch, 3 replicates, total 40 observation-hour) March-April 2021. Species (S), Shannon-Wiener diversity indices (H’), Chao prediction, Bray-Curtis similarity (B) calculated. Total 979 individual birds observed, consisted 68 from 28 families B ranged 0.573 0.846. Large lake had highest (S:39 species, Chao:54) H’ (3.097). However, two closed activities lowest number (S:27, Chao:30, H’:2.908, S:23, Chao:32, H’:2.938, respectively), even lower than (S:30, Chao:40, H’:2.925) or (S:34; Chao:51, H’:2.724). Clearly disturbance micro-habitat affect local scale.

Variation in habitat suitability does not always relate to variation in species' plant functional traits.
Habitat suitability models, which relate species occurrences to environmental variables, are assumed to predict suitable conditions for a given species. If these models are reliable, they should relate to change in plant growth and function. In this paper, we ask the question whether habitat suitability models are able to predict variation in plant functional traits, often assumed to be a good ...
متن کاملHabitat patch size alters the importance of dispersal for species diversity in an experimental freshwater community
Increased dispersal of individuals among discrete habitat patches should increase the average number of species present in each local habitat patch. However, experimental studies have found variable effects of dispersal on local species richness. Priority effects, predators, and habitat heterogeneity have been proposed as mechanisms that limit the effect of dispersal on species richness. Howeve...
متن کاملBiogas Energy Potential in Riau Indonesia
The increasing of crude oil prices recently in the world, the need for an alternative source of fuel in the Indonesia is urgently required. In addition, growing concern about climate change is driving the need for “low-carbon” fuels. One highly potential form of renewable and low-carbon fuel is biogas from anaerobic digestion of organic wastes. Anaerobic digestion is a naturally occurring proce...
متن کاملPolarimetric synthetic aperture radar application for tropical peatlands classification: a case study in Siak River Transect, Riau Province, Indonesia
Mapping spatial distributions of tropical peatlands is important for properly estimating carbon emissions and for providing information that aids in the sustainable management of tropical peatlands, particularly in Indonesia. This study evaluated the performance of phased array type L-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) (PALSAR) dual-polarization and fully polarimetric data for tropical peatlan...

Determining landscape parameters influencing species richness of habitat patches is one of the most important issues in conservation biology. Many previous studies have investigated the influence of habitat parameters on bird assemblages in forest patches, but studies seeking effects of oasis parameters on bird assemblages are very scarce. Karkas Protected Area is located in semi-arid zone in...
